For partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Murray State University Honors Diploma, Sarah Stellhorn has written 'Women of the War: Female Espionage Agents for the Confederacy.' This thesis investigates the role of women during the Civil War and how they contributed to the Confederate war effort. While these women were part of what was known as 'The Lost Cause,' their courage and bravery was celebrated on both sides of the Civil War.

Abstract
Although historians have frequently examined the role of women on the home front during the Civil War, women who contributed to the cause in more direct ways, such as espionage, are often neglected. An in-depth examination of specific females spying for the Confederacy, such as Rose O'Neal Greenhow and Belle Boyd, proves that their actions, both remarkable and uncharacteristic of women at the time, had a direct impact on the war. A vast network of spies and smugglers existed not only in the southern and border states but also throughout the North, even in Washington D.C. itself. This network was utilized especially in the early war years to transmit a number of vital messages, including several collected and sent by Rose O'Neal Greenhow concerning imperative information in the Battle of First Manassas. Females who spied for the Confederacy came from a variety of social classes and backgrounds. Some of the most successful spies, however, were women who used their high political connections in the North to retrieve information and send it South. For spies who were caught, punishments varied, but typically included imprisonment or banishment to the South.

Important Note: The F12 key is needed to access the menu and stuff so make sure to set this option (F1-F12) in the system preferences on your Mac. Otherwise when you press F12 you will increase sound. Also when setting the resolution for the game, do not set the same resolution as your Mac, otherwise the F12 will show you the Mac Dashboard instead of the game menu. So set the resolution one fragment lower, for example for iMacs '1600×900' which is high enough. That will keep the F12 function still intact. For cossacks Back to War it seems the Campaigns are missing? All single missions and stuff are still there though…for the other two Cossacks games the campaigns are all there.

Game Description:
To stand alone in war is extremely unpleasant. Extremely pleasant, on the other hand, is the stand-alone version Cossacks: Back to War. Containing all of the gameplay features of Cossacks: European Wars and Cossacks: The Art of War, this is a complete care package for all current and future Cossacks fans. This add-on contains 100 captivating missions taking place between the 16th and 18th centuries. In addition, two new nations, Switzerland and Hungary, are included. These countries waged war in the late Middle Ages and essentially influenced the development of European military strategies. This addition causes the second add-on of Cossacks to pass the threshold of allowed gaming fun.
